Martha Stewart Leitch
General Information
Occupation: Architect
Notes: "From the outset, it was Marty's view that the practice of architecture was a difficult life for a woman. The construction business was very competitive, commissions hard to find, and banks unlikely to help over the thin times. In addition, a woman's practice would be restricted by the desire for a family and a civilized life. Once there was a family, the responsibilities and the energies would be divided. However Marty had a strong desire to stay in the world of the profession 'come hell or high water'."
