The author summarizes Kavanaugh's career as a designer working in a range of media and disciplines whose Los Angeles-based firm Gere Kavanaugh/Design, founded in 1964, has worked for a number of American corporations. In interview, Kavanaugh chronicles her training and career, crediting Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she completed the MFA programme, with an experimental, cross-disciplinary approach to learning which has since informed her work as a designer.
